We are delighted to announce two significant partnerships launching this autumn for the development of our national Dance for Parkinson’s programme. The new Dance for Parkinson’s regional classes will take place in Ipswich, offered in partnership with DanceEast and Cardiff, in partnership with National Dance Company Wales.

DanceEast is the curator of the Jerwood DanceHouse, the home of dance in the East of England. Dance for Parkinson’s connects with their commitment to celebrating diversity, championing excellence and providing access to all. The programme brings a unique opportunity for DanceEast to engage people with Parkinson’s in Ipswich and the surrounding areas with high quality dance classes in the professional environment of the dance studio.

Both regional programmes will begin with open taster sessions and an exclusive theatre visit to see an English National Ballet performance. These short taster opportunities will provide a special chance to find out more about our work. Carers, friends and family are invited to join in with this unique, artistic and creative dance opportunity. Classes provide the added benefits of improved mental and physical health and wellbeing, the chance for social interaction with like-minded people and most importantly, provide a fun and energising activity suitable for all.

National Dance Company Wales Deputy Director David Wright said of the programme;

“National Dance Company Wales is very excited to be finally bringing Dance for Parkinson’s to Wales and to our home at the Wales Millennium Centre, where the Dance House will become the Cardiff Hub.  This is a very exciting programme that will create enriching experiences for all involved, while enabling us to expand the reach of our own participatory work for a broader range of ages and abilities. We are delighted to be one of English National Ballet’s Dance for Parkinson’s hub partners”
