Big Dance 2014 Launch

Big Dance 2014 was launched at City Hall today with dancers from across London warming up for Big Dance Week with Darcey Bussell and Mayor of London, Boris Johnson.

Big Dance is a  biannual festival which has raised the profile of dance in the Capital and across the UK since it began in 2006; giving audiences and participants unparalleled access to dance in all its forms.

Big Dance has demonstrated how dance can empower and enrich communities and individuals.

At English National Ballet, we have flown the flag for Big Dance as the West London Hub since 2010, reaching 35,000 people through 280 projects and workshops and working with 30 partner organisations across the arts and beyond.

This year, English National Ballet and Foundation for Community Dance have co-commissioned award-winning choreographer Cameron McMillan to create a new piece of choreography, Kinetic Echo – Our Dancing Selves, especially for the Big Dance 2014 Weekend . The piece is performed by ENBYouthCo at Westfield London (Shepherds Bush) on 12 July at 2pm and 5pm.

Big Dance Week 2014 runs from 5 – 13 July, with dance activities and performances across London and the UK. For more information visit the Big Dance website.
